Sources and attribution
This page explains where Cactuswiki’s content comes from and how each author and photographer is credited.
llifle.com
Most of Cactuswiki’s profiles are adapted from llifle.com — Encyclopedia of Living Forms, from its cacti and succulents encyclopedias. llifle is a collective work with many contributors: authors of descriptions, photographers and editors. Texts and photographs are published here under CC BY-SA, with llifle’s permission. Every profile adapted from llifle:
- Links to the original page in its “Source and attribution” box.
- Keeps the names of the authors and photographers.
- States the date the content was retrieved.
- Is published, like any adaptation, under the same licence, CC BY-SA 4.0.
Cactuswiki has adapted this material: texts were reformatted and split into sections, plants outside cacti and succulents were left out, and synonyms were grouped under their accepted name.
If you are an author or photographer of content that was first published on llifle and want to correct or add your credit, or want a specific text or photo removed, write to contacto@fcactus.com. We answer removal requests within 48 hours.
Original material
Profiles marked as original were written by Cactuswiki contributors. They are published under the same CC BY-SA 4.0 licence. See Contribute.
How to check a profile’s attribution
At the end of every profile there is a “Source and attribution” box with:
- Where the content comes from.
- The original URL, when there is one.
- Authors and photographers.
- Licence.
- Retrieval date.
Every photo also shows its photographer, its licence and a link to the original. If you find a profile or a photo without correct attribution, please tell us at contacto@fcactus.com.
