About Cactuswiki
Cactuswiki is an open encyclopedia of cacti, succulents and caudiciforms run as a personal, non-profit project. It brings together plant profiles, cultivation notes and photographs under one navigation and one licence.
Sources and attribution
Most profiles and photographs come from llifle.com — Encyclopedia of Living Forms and are published under a CC BY-SA licence. Every profile names its authors and photographers and links to the original page. The details are on Sources and attribution.
What it is and what it is not
Cactuswiki is:
- An encyclopedia of cactus and succulent profiles.
- A cultivation guide that uses the same criteria (light, water, soil, hardiness) on every profile.
- A personal, non-profit project open to contributions.
Cactuswiki is not:
- A primary taxonomic source. Names follow the source pages and are being reviewed; synonyms are listed on each profile.
- A substitute for the work of the original authors and photographers: that is why every profile and every photo carries its credit.
Languages
Cactuswiki is published in English. A Spanish version is in progress.
