Description
Submatucana(now Matucana) mamillaris (note correct spelling) is a Karel Knize n.n. for his collection number KK1638. Bregman states that although it’s seed structure places it between Matucana krahnii and Matucana paucicostata it appears to have more affinity to Matucana tuberculata. All of these being within in the paucicostata group of Matucana. He thinks that it might be a transitional form between Matucana paucicostata and Matucana tuberculata but there is not enough known about it. (No official description or type etc.) Therefore, it remains only a synonym of tuberculata.
